EDIT: I've added something new to the contest – for everyone person who enters the contest, I'll donate 50 cents* to the needy pet organization Petsmart uses for charity. Money will be donated at my next trip to Petsmart.
This is my first month of give-aways and I thought it might be neat to pick from the List of Commemorative Months I found on Wikipedia and use that as the themes for my monthly give-aways. The list is HUGE, so I have a lot to choose from. However, I also need to match this list with the goodies I received from the Romantic Times Book Lover's Convention. As a side note, some of the commemorative themes were really off the wall or things I just could not support. Such as…
–National Egg Month. :
–National Salad Month
–National Do Not Eat Cheese Before Noon Month…I kid you not and there is NOOOO way I could support that!
Some I could get behind 100% and there are a little too many to mention (and most of them are great causes), but here are some I thought deserved honorable mentions…
–National Chocolate Custard Month
–National Clean Energy Month
–Uranus Awareness Month (I had some erotic romances I could have used for this…but I'll save that one. Seriously, it might be a good idea to bring awareness to this planet as it may end up in the realm of Pluto if we're not careful…but I didn't have any books of space adventures to give away.)
–National Zombie Awareness Month – No, darn it, I didn't have any zombie books to give away!
The one I chose for this month is NATIONAL PET MONTH! I had two books I thought fitting for this month that I wasn't sure I'd be able to use for any other month… Continue reading →
Writer's block…first there is the debate on whether or not it exists. Debate ended: It does. If it didn't, it wouldn't be the dreaded disease that plagues every writer on the planet. Those who have experienced it knows it prevents your creativity from flowing and brings your writing to a grinding halt. It's not being lazy, it's just misunderstanding what it really is. As writers, we all experience it at one time or another and we all know it's the downside of being an author…or is it? Believe it or not, I believe I have found the cure for Writer's Block! Wow! Been a very long time since I participated in my favorite online writing exercise. Been busy with getting married and trying to find a job (collecting unemployment right now). In between all that, we're trying to start our own businesses and make some money from home doing creative stuff. I'll list our web sites below so you can see what we offer and perhaps we can provide something you need!
Now that I'm dedicating more of my time to my own writing, I will do what I can to include “Write Everything“s Fiction Friday a little more often. But on to the Fiction Friday Post for 9/24/2010: Continue reading →
Continuing my blogs on my experience at the Romantic Times Book Lover's Convention 2009 (in Orlando, FL), it was my greatest pleasure to speak with so many writers about the craft and the process in which people craft their own stories. I LOVE to hear all the ways that people come up with their story ideas and what brings them to that last page where they type our favorite words….THE END.
I realize the publisher will be the one to design the cover, but I'm a visual kinda gal and I like to SEE things happening! So, I've designed a new cover for my first book – MIDNIGHT CONQUEST. Why? Well, though I like what I did before, it doesn't fluconazole buy online uk LOOK like a paranormal romance. While at the RT convention, I saw the covers that immediately drew me to them because they LOOKED like a paranormal romance novel. So, I don't think there will be any mistaking this for anything BUT a paranormal romance… Continue reading →
I had the pleasure of meeting a profound artist at the Romantic Times Book Lover's Convention by the name of Robert Quill. Charming, witty, talented and downright hilarious, Robert was a joy to meet and converse with. I loved hearing his voice – a kind of cross between rogue and tv announcer.
Genella and I are friends because I enjoy her ideas and what she writes…outside of the fact we also have so much in common. THANKFULLY I don't have one of those friendships with her where I adore her, but I hate her writing. What a conundrum that would be! “Gee, Genella…um…cute story?” I'm blessed with a very talented friend who knows how to tell a good story and she never fails to yank those tears from me! Aye, my third day at the Romantic Times Book Lover's Convention, the sex, scandal and mayhem began! I met a very famous and well-loved author (she-who-shall-not-be-named) during my initial RT Virgin orientation and volunteered to help her with moving some of her promotional materials. As we walked down the halls of the convention center, she insisted on stopping by and hugging another well-known author (another she-who-shall-not-be-named), who…with MUCH excitement and enthusiasm…hugged my new-friend-famous author…and promptly began humping her leg with an expression of ecstasy on her face. Sorry no recent updates! Been busy getting ready for the upcoming Romantic Times Book Lover's Convention! Even though I'm very much looking forward to the event, I don't think the excitement of it has hit me just yet. I'm running around like a crazy woman getting all my promotional materials and give-aways made and ready for the event. More on that in just a moment. Continue reading →
