Kostbar, Germany – 1636

Driven by the desire to meet the true love she’s experienced in her dreams, Monika Konrads uses her magickal skills to weave a love spell during the waxing of the moon. As if in response, a strangely familiar and handsome Scotsman is seeking to settle in their village. But the werewolf stalking Monika has other ideas about who her love interest should be.

Broderick MacDougal is drawn to the powerful witch by a familiar force, and makes the chestnut-haired wise woman his next pursuit to unravel the mystery of why she reminds him so much of his late wife, Davina. However, there are other supernatural forces surrounding her, exposing Rick to a darker side of this deal he made for immortality…and this enchanting nymph may be his only salvation.

Monika’s quest to find a cure for the werewolf curse causes a chain of events that starts a witch hunt, dooming both her and Broderick to the fiery stake of judgment. And through these trials, they learn the Church has a new ally who is hunting down the members of the Army of Light.

Author Notes

Book 1 was inspired by three things: my trip to Scotland, my love of Highlander stories*, and the fact klonopin online mastercard that I needed to write something no one else had done. At the time, I had not read anything close to a Scotsman becoming a vampire or even vampire romance in an historical setting. Book 2 takes place seventeen years later, so the setting, naturally, was still Scotland in the early 1500s. However, since I was moving my tales forward in time, I needed another scene…and Germany is my first love. I spent three-and-a-half years in Deutschland and can’t wait to go back! The food, the culture, the people…they’re all wonderful. Setting picked – check! Now a topic.

Again, I love taking a traditional philosophy and giving it a twist. I had never heard of the explanation as to why vampires and werewolves are “natural” enemies. Fiction just seems to state it and leave it at that. I like to know the whys and the history. Creating my own answer to that question fit into this story and introduced my readers to another facet of my vampire lore–the origin of the traditional wolfman monster – complete with a painful transmogrification (GAWD I love that word!)

Another thing I enjoy is the history of religion. I needed a dramatic setting for my characters and this story takes place during the turmoils of the Reformation…when the peoples of Europe began breaking free from the Church of the Holy Roman Empire. Since Martin Luther was one of the largest advocates and German, these circumstances drove the location and the external conflict. My heroine is accused of witchcraft and will face that fiery stake of judgment. Coming from a Catholic, Wiccan and fundamentalist Christian background, I believe I have an interesting flavor to add to my story with this historic environment.

*Please note: Book 1 does NOT take place in the Highlands. It actually takes place in the Central East of Scotland. I wanted to do something different…remember?
