A knock at the door drew Cornelius’s attention, and he inclined his ear as Bernard the bouncer slid the metal plate aside.
“Password.”
“I want to drink your blood,” came the annoyed response.
“You have to say it right or—”
“Okay, fine!” The patron huffed.
Cornelius grinned.
“I vant to dlink your bluhd. There. Happy?”
Bernard closed the peek-through window, opened the door, and exchanged a sly smirk with Cornelius, who sat on a stool nearby.
As the young vampire entered the bar, he glared at Cornelius. “Asshole.”
“Lighten up, friend.” Cornelius patted him on the back and joined Vincent in the center of the vampire bar. About a dozen patrons included in their confidential product testing sat at the tables. “That’s the last one.”
