Cornelius, still stunned and on the floor, gazed up at Eva.
A sad smile framed her new fangs. “I didn’t want to do this to you and Vincent, but…I fear I really didn’t have a choice. I’m sorry.”
Eva pivoted on the ball of her foot and left the audio-visual booth.
Vincent helped Cornelius to his feet with the weakness of the mortals they had now become after consuming Eva’s serum. He’d asked her to “even the playing field” between them and Dominic, but Cornelius had never expected this.
Eva reappeared in the auditorium below, sauntering heedlessly into the sea of angry men.
“Seize her!” Dominic demanded from the dais.
