Today…Season 1 ends!
Here’s how this goes…
With the first arc finished, I’m going to be reworking the story a bit to include more chapters of Julian and Dean, so those will end up getting published here on Substack for the next few weeks, every Friday as per the original schedule. I’ll let you know where they fall in the story and I hope to add sub-numbers to them for clarification on where they fall in the timeline.
Once I’ve worked those out, I’ll be compiling the entire season 1 arc and publishing it on the Radish app. I’ll keep you guys posted as to when it will be released.
While I’m writing those chapters, I’m hoping to get input from my paid subscribers about what they’d like to see in these added chapters, giving you the chance to add something to the stories if you want. Can’t do that without comments, so be sure to comment when prompted!
Once the entire season is published on Radish, I’ll be able to release it on other platforms as a complete eBook. Again, I’ll inform you of release dates.
Oracle Readings for Paid Subscribers?
Is anyone interested in getting an oracle reading? I thought it might be a nice benefit for paid subscribers. I’d be using that amazing new deck I bought - the Obsidian Veil Shadow Oracle Cards.
Reply to this email and let me know if this is something you’re interested in. It would be included in your paid subscription benefits.
So, without further adieu…here’s the final episode for Season 1 of Crescent Alliance…
Episode 28: A Day of Reckoning
Maion
I dropped my saddlebags and helmet by the dresser and plopped onto the bed, exhausted. Lying there, staring at the ceiling, I ruminated over Julian and Dean. Julian, I knew, was still on my ass, following at a distance. I had no clue where Dean was and couldn’t decide if I was glad he hadn’t texted me or pissed he hadn’t made any effort to reach out.
As angry as I was at Julian, at least he was reaching out, and our last encounter had me thinking.
His goddess had told him that something was wrong with the Shadow Veil, and I had been so focused on finally having a way to hide from Infernal and Celestial that I was willing to keep using it. But it didn’t stop me from wondering what the consequences of using it might be.
Julian’s powers as a vampire—blood magic, strength to overpower me—gave him the opportunity to take the Shadow Veil and run. Would I have burnt him to a crisp if he tried? No, and he probably knew that, too. So why didn’t he take advantage of it?
He didn’t have to be following me at a distance. What was the point of saving face with me or giving me space if his goal was to take the relic? He just had to take it.
Unless he was telling the truth, and his goddess didn’t want the Shadow Veil after all? She hadn’t exactly changed her mind, he said. Whatever the hell that meant. But she wasn’t after it. Why?
My curiosity started outweighing my anger.
I sat upright on the bed and walked to the window. A peek through the curtains revealed Julian’s beast of an SUV sitting in the parking lot. We locked eyes. I crooked my index finger at him. He issued some instructions to his driver and stepped out of the vehicle. His fingers fastened the button on his suit jacket as his long legs carried him to the hotel entrance.
There was a certain appeal to seeing him jump at my simple gesture and I couldn’t resist the smirk that tugged at the corner of my mouth.
