This week, we’re switching to Dean’s POV and getting inside the head of one of our heroes. In the spirit of what I’ll be doing for my Tuesday posts, I thought it would be fun to change things up a bit! Enjoy!
Episode 21: A Wolf’s Tale
Dean
After the destruction the angels did on our room, the three of us were moved to one of the suites that were quickly vacated by antsy guests who were scared off by the commotion. The police asked us several questions and thanks to Julian and the other vampires, they were able to effectively compel the authorities to accept this as a freak accident. Physical evidence proved the destruction imploded into the room and we were the “victims” and not the perpetrators of whatever happened.
Several hours later, I sat in our new hotel room, my elbows on the chair arms, my fingers steepled in front of my face as I glared at the door.
The door through which Maion had left for good.
She’d shut me down. Wouldn’t listen to a word I’d said. But everything I said was wrong anyway. I still wasn’t telling her the whole truth. Wasn’t willing to be that vulnerable.
Maion was right. I should have been more truthful. But, in my defense, I was trying to protect my pack. Even she couldn’t admit that she would have come this far had I told her everything. If she’d known I kicked Cassandra out of my club because of the demonic activity surrounding her, she might not have trusted me at all. Angel-kind were a magnet for trouble, but since the demonic activity hadn’t gone away after Cassandra left, kicking her out of our clan only hurt her in the process.
And left my clan vulnerable.
When those demons revealed themselves that night in Maion’s bar, I thought they were there for me. Then Ur’gelloth told us what Maion was.
I should have walked out of the bar right then and there.
