Here’s the next installment of Crescent Alliance!

Episode 17: Through the Looking Glass

“I need a phone.” I held my palm out to Julian. My phone was trashed from the plane crash, and I hadn’t yet had the time to get a temporary replacement.

Julian passed me his iPhone, and I tapped away at the screen, sending a text message.

“Who are you texting?” Julian rose from his chair and peered over my shoulder.

“My supplier for the celestial herbs I used for the elixirs.”

“Can’t you just call him?” Dean finally settled down enough to sit on the settee beside me.

“He isn’t going to recognize Julian’s number.” I tapped the send button and waited. “Gotta let him know it’s me or he’ll block the number.”

Julian’s phone chimed. The screen read, “Private Number.”

I answered. “Hi, Brutus.” Yep. The guy who showed me and my dad the ropes about living the nomadic life of a hybrid angel.

“A plane crash, huh?” his gravelly voice intoned with sarcasm. “You have all the luck, kid.”

“Tell me about it.” I didn’t bother putting the phone on speaker since I knew Julian and Dean would use their supernatural hearing to pick up Brutus’s side of the conversation.

“You need some more herbs?”

“Actually, I need to know how to get to the Sphere of Shadows.”

Brutus was silent for a long time and if it wasn’t for his long sigh, I would have thought he hung up. “Why the hell would you want to go there? I can get you whatever you need.”
