Episode 12: Shadows in the Mist
I opened my arms and dropped the sticks and logs I’d been gathering, never taking my eyes off the glowing, silver orbs blinking back at me from the darkness. Slowly bringing my hand to my thigh, I fingered the silver-plated metal spike tucked into the sheath sewn along the seam of my jeans.
A low, guttural growl rumbled from the bushes and the accompanying silver eyes narrowed before they dipped. A large black form leapt into the moonlight toward me.
