Midnight Hunt - Book 3 of the Bonded By Blood Vampire ChroniclesAs many of you may know, Midnight Hunt is the third book in my Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles. (Don't worry…I'm working hard on Book 4!) Here's the excerpt of the first kiss between Broderick and Monika (his wife Davina reincarnated):

Monika grabbed a thick cloth from a hook and swung the fireplace crane to check the brew. “I think this is done.”

“I’ll do that for you.” Broderick took the cloth from her hand and their fingers briefly brushed against each other. He clenched his jaw against the wave of lust coursing through his limbs. After unhooking the cooking pot from the iron arm, he set the simmering infusion on the sideboard along the right wall. He stepped away and let her examine the brew.

Broderick peeked over her shoulder as she poked at the wilted plant in the water with a wooden spoon. “Just a little time to let it cool,” she said, and then whirled around and slammed into his chest with an “Oomph!” He caught her before she fell back. “Oh, goodness! I’m so sorry! I had no inkling you were right behind me!” She clutched his arms while she spewed apologies.

“Nay, it was my fault. I shouldn’t have…” Broderick stopped speaking because she kept rambling explanations, obviously thoroughly embarrassed by the clumsy encounter. He chuckled and then laid a finger over her lush mouth. “All is well.”

Wide-eyed and awe-struck, Monika gazed up at him.

The scent of her blood wafted between them and swirled with her desire, drifting from her like a perfume. Her pink tongue darted out to wet her lips and Broderick’s mouth watered. The Hunger surfaced and he closed his eyes to ensure she didn’t see the silver glow. “Fräulein Konrads, I—”

Monika slipped her fingers into his hair, pressing the back of his head to pull him to her. Their lips met…and Broderick was lost. She smelled of lavender and tasted of honey…tasted of Davina. She kissed like his wife—the same nibbling of his lower lip, the way she traced her tongue around his mouth, exploring, seeking. When she opened her mouth to him, he was helpless to resist and slid his tongue between her lips, delving deep. His hands smoothed down her sides, his thumbs tempted to brush the swell of her breasts, but he fought the indulgence. He snaked his arms around her torso and pulled her against his chest, lifting her in his embrace while he feasted on her mouth.

*Sigh* I'm in love with my own vampire hero. Broderick MacDougal for the win!! The first book in my Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles is FREE – Midnight Conquest – so be sure to download that and get hooked on the series!

  1. I’ve had a few kisses that were memorable – for all the wrong reasons. LOL! One guy tried to suck my entire mouth while french kissing me. That was his 1st & only date. YUCK!!

    1. LMAO!!! Precisely why I just said “memorable” and didn’t specify good or bad. I know my first kiss wasn’t a dreamy experience. It was sloppy and awkward! However, my first kiss with my husband…THAT’S a different story!! Meant to be!!

Thanks for commenting, Jennifer! You’ll be entered into the drawing.

  2. My first kiss was kind of funny. I met a guy in Tahoe when I was camping in with my parents, cousins, aunts and uncles– a real family affair. Trying to find time alone was difficult, but we told them we were going for a walk. We wondered down by the lake and this sweet guy sings to me. I know sounds corny, but it really was romantic. I was all of 18 years old and hadn’t really dated. So this was kind of thrilling to me. The stars were shining bright and he was holding my hand.

I kept thinking this is like a musical ( I had just seen Grease for the up-teenth time before we went on vacation). I just knew once he was finished singing, he was going to kiss me. Danny Zucko and Sandy… And… well, he tried. He leaned in for the kiss and I started cranking up. Poor guy.

Truly we did end up kissing and I managed not to giggle. 🙂 Oh the memories!

    1. LOL! What a cute story, Karen! I love stuff like this. And how adorable that would sound in a story when a hero and heroine met at a very young age. When’s the book coming out? 😉

      Thanks for commenting!!

  3. I’ll share with you my most recent adventures concerning the same two pairs of lips. The first incident, I was a little…. OK, I’ll admit it: Drunk. LOL I had not the sense to participate, so tipsy was I, so you can imagine how uneventful it seemed. But because life sometimes grants us another chance at things, this wonderful man decided to attempt a second kiss (somewhere around 60 days later). I don’t know about him, but I really enjoyed it – so much so that I wrote about it:

‘The kiss had been stolen. No permission had been sought and certainly none given. She’d even made protest at first, but the beauty of his soul seemed to will the wall of ice blocks she’d built around her heart to instantly liquefy. It wasn’t the perfection of his lips, because they were indeed perfectly aesthetic, it wasn’t the shock of the deed nor the warmth of his skin, but the way the wet inside of their lips magically slid together for an instant. “Happy new year,” he murmured, and slipped from the room. She shut her eyes and watched the white-hot sparks settle upon the floor of her imagination, setting it alight with a smoldering red-orange glow.’

    🙂

  4. A memorable first kiss… There have been a few. There’s nothing better than the first kiss when I was seventeen. Sweet and innocent but it made my heart flutter. 🙂
