Current Project
UPDATE on the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest Unfortunately, I did not make the first round. If I'm not mistaken, I believe they said in the forum that "General Fiction" means just that...GENERAL fiction. I guess they don't include specific genres...like historical scottish vampire romance. Oh well! Their loss! I HAVE, however, entered two more contest that are more up my alley. One is the Hearts Through History contest and the other is the FAB Five. Both are with chapters of the Romance Writers of America organization. Check out their sites and I'll keep you posted here about my progress through the contests.
You can still visit the preview of the first chapter for MIDNIGHT CONQUEST. You can also view my pitch here. This pitch (sent out the next day in a few query letters to some agents) garnered the attention to an agent I've been courting for a couple of years, so something very good came out of the contest. It is my hope to land an agent for representation and have a professional submitting my manuscript. Again, I'll keep you posted. Send positive energy!!! Thanks so much for the encouragement I've received so far!
I found an artist for my children's books!! Believe it or not, the artist was right under my nose - MY MOTHER! She's an amazing artist and I should have thought to use her earlier. Please visit her web site and show her some lovin'! www.MillieLouArt.com. Mom and I have TWO books on our calendar to self-publish this year: Where Art Thou Unicorn? and an artbook featuring my mother's paintings with poetry I'll be composing inspired by her work. Incidentally, Millie has a shopping cart for her web site, so now you can purchase her artwork!
Revisions for MIDNIGHT CONQUEST are finished for now, having prepared it for the ABNA contest, which is another good thing that came out of the experience. I'm starting to work through refining the storyline for CAPTIVE HEART and I may even come up with a book trailer for that one, too! How fun!
Works In Progress
Wow! Lots of other things coming down the pipe! I just downloaded some free source code to put eCards on our web sites. I'll be testing it out on Millie's site first, featuring her artwork in the eCards. These will be FREE eCards you can send to your family and friends. Thankfully the code is all customizable, so keep that in mind if you visit the web site where I got the code. They're just putting up the functional part of the software, not the "pretty" version. I'll send out an announcement once we get the eCards working. Also, if you can throw him a pound or two (yeah, he's a Brit!) as a tip, he's doing it all for free! I'm sure he'd appreciate a little charity.
I've also just updated the web site for Enchanted Woodz and WE have a shopping cart now! No more eBay and we had our first sale through the shopping cart today! This customer came from the ad we placed in the Witches & Pagans magazine. Be sure to check out the new items we have posted on our site and it's MUCH easier to get products from us now all through PayPal.
Other Projects
I am now freelancing from home full time and one of my favorite writing jobs is writing GREETING CARDS! I'm pretty excited about it. The company is called JQ Greetings and the owner is a real sweetheart! Great to work with! I encourage you to visit their web site to see the beautiful cards my poetry will be on.
I'm still touching upon my adventure romance titled THE DAGGER AND THE SHEATH. A slight update to the storyline - I'm giving the "ancient legend" I mention Norse mythology roots! Oooooo! As such, I've just updated the summary to reflect that, so check it out. Click here to read more about this tale set in the 1800s of newly-settled America!
