The Legend of the Tooth Faeries
(Manuscript completed - looking for publisher/agent representation)
How did the Tooth Faery start collecting our baby teeth and leaving behind treasures? This delightful tale takes us back to that first child who began this tradition and why we have continued it until today. This picture book is intended as a storytime tale or a reading tale for young readers.
Author's Note
I create wooden jewelry boxes with velvet pillows designed especially for children to leave their baby teeth for the Tooth Faeries. In these Tooth Faery boxes, I thought it would be wonderful to include a tiny scroll that talked about the original tooth faery legend. However, when I did my research, I found the original story was HORRIBLE! It's actually a story about a queen who is married to an evil king and the queen makes a deal with a fairy to get back at her husband. So the fairy turns into a mouse, crawls under the king's pillow and kicks his teeth out at night when he sleeps! There was no way I wanted to include that rotten story in my boxes, so I created my own story...thus is born "The Legend of the Tooth Faeries."
Where Art Thou Unicorn?
(Manuscript completed - looking for publisher/agent representation)
Some things need to be believed to be seen...and unicorns are one of them! This rhyming picture book for very young readers takes children on a quest to find the unicorn. Illustrated with hidden pictures of unicorns, it provides an interactive journey for parents and children alike.
Author's Note
Unicorns have been a passion of mine all my life and in one way or another, have been present in almost everything I do connected to my art. My signature AND my pen name are of and from unicorns! I wrote this poem/children's book with fantasy imagery that is so prevalent of unicorns and the world in which they live. It is my hope that this book plants the seeds of imagination and believing in the impossible – something we all need to make our dreams come true!
The Curse of the Dragon's Breath
(Drafting manuscript)
Ever wonder why we have such bad breath in the morning? This humorous story tells us how dragons cursed mankind to have bad breath for all eternity and why. You won’t believe it! Intended for story time tale or for young readers.
Author's Note
I couldn’t help myself! This story was too funny for me to pass up! When I was eight years old and first thing in the morning, I came to my younger sister’s bed and whispered right in her face. She gawked and pushed at my face, saying in disgust, “Oh! Your breath smells like poo!” From then on my sisters dubbed me Smaug (after the dragon in J.R.R. Tokien’s book "The Hobbit"). These incidents spawned The Curse of the Dragon's Breath.
