Dragon's Claw

Thirteen-year-old Michelle Roberts is in love with fantasy adventure of all kinds - dragons, unicorns, faeries...you name it! It's been a great escape from the dysfunctional family in which she's grown up. Between the abuse her mother dished out and all the custody battles over Michelle, she wasn't sure she ever wanted to come out of her dream world. However, life has finally calmed down since she's been living alone with their father and fantasy adventure is more about having fun than escaping.
When Michelle's father must transfer to a new location because of his job, Michelle is quick to be angry about the move...until she finds out they're going to England! Not only will they be going to the country she's dreamed of traveling to, the will actually live in a castle! The only thing Michelle wants to know is when they're leaving!
What starts out as a dream come true, turn into an adventure of a lifetime when Michelle discovers a magickal amulet of power called Dragon's Claw. Magick does exist and it can do whatever she wants it to...for a price! Now Michelle knows why this amulet of power has been hidden away and kept secret for so long. Can she resist the power of the amulet, or will she be the one to dominate it and finally be the one to control the power of Dragon's Claw
Author's Note
TOTAL fantasy trip for me! I started writing this story when I was a freshman in high school! I had gone through a lot as a child and my step-father wasn’t the greatest guy in the world. I fantasized about the same thing Michelle does...all things fantasy adventure. I played the role-playing games and the Choose Your Own Adventure books. It indeed was a great escape. I would also fantasize about my mother getting a job in England. (I chose to switch the roles with mother and father since people are always making men out to be the bad guys. There are plenty of women out there who are abusive to their children, too, and dads keep getting the bad rap.) Since I wanted to go to England as a kid so much, I thought writing about it would make it more real to me...thus was born “Dragon’s Claw”.
It's amazing how the Law of Attraction works. I really put it out there about living in England...and my dreams came true. I spent three and a half years in both England and Germany when I joined the U.S. Air Force. It was an adventure of a lifetime and I can't wait to go back!
